~Rocking 2015 – New Year’s Resolutions~
I’ve given a lot of thought to what I want to accomplish in 2015 and how to do it so I can rock my 2015 resolutions. It pretty much distills down to “Just Do It”. It’s not rocket science folks. I need to buckle down and do it. Here is my “Just Do It” list for 2015:
Just Do It Resolution: Design and make
more lots more jewelry. I get off-track way too much with social media, webinars on improving my business, classes, emails, shopping for vintage beads, and being the Great Oz to a large family. I will be posting a “Sneak Peek Saturday” to share a new piece of jewelry or elements for new pieces. Here is a peek of my stash of vintage rhinestone jewelry and mother of pearl buttons.
Just Do It Resolution: Bring out my new line of dog tag bracelets. I love my dog tag bracelets and they have long been my best seller. I’m designing a new line of bracelets that will use the dog tags in a bit different way with a lower price point and I am really excited about it. Here is a peek of my best seller:
Just Do It: Do More Custom Work. I am a fairly epic people pleaser and custom work feeds my soul. This year I’m going to get more organized about my custom work. Here are a few examples of my custom bracelets. Moo Shu was a beloved Westie who loved butterflies and a bit of bling.
Sam was a sweet Westie who liked things simple . . . so no beads on his memorial bracelet, just a simple sterling silver soldered name charm.
My friend Betty Ann asked me to create a bracelet with all of her father’s tie tacks and pins from his career at North American Aerospace. What a nice way to give tie tacks a second life.
Just Do It Resolution: Walk the big park 5 days a week with Winston and HT (the Handsome Texan). We are so lucky to live close to a large historic park that is filled with stonework from the WPA projects in the 1930s. When we first adopted Winston we took him to the park and we realized he hadn’t ever been out in nature. Now he is pretty sure he owns the entire park and he loves to patrol it and keep the squirrels in line. News Flash: The squirrels are mocking you Winston.
Just Do It Resolution: Pitch my jewelry to magazines/media. As soon as my new line of bracelets comes out, I will be pitching like crazy.
Just Do It Resolution: Amp up my estate sale attendance. Thanks to “estatesales.net” and the “Yard Sale Treasure Map” phone app, it is easier than ever to find estate sales. I’ll be posting a vintage “Trash or Treasure” review of my estate sale scores so you can vote.
Just Do It Resolution: Do a year-round garden and use the veggies and herbs. The HT and I have always gardened, even back in our college trailer-living days in South Texas. Living in SoCal we can pretty much garden year-round, except during the dreaded “burn-out” time of September – November when we have high temps, ruthless Santa Ana winds, and fires. Don’t ever try to have snowflakes land on your tongue in SoCal – it is actually ash from a nearby forest fire. Even with a large garden right outside my back door, I don’t eat enough veggies. This year I’m going to change that.
Just Do It Resolution: Post a weekly blog. Why does that one small sentence look so intimidating? Maybe if I associate it with chocolates?
Just Do It Resolution: Practice daily positive affirmations. I read one of the “Laws of Attraction” books last year (“Law of Attraction” by Michael J. Losier) and really loved it. It was an easy read and fairly easy to implement. Who said change was easy?? I realize I spend way too much time spent in a state of mild-to-moderate hyperactivity/anxiety and I would much rather be projecting positivity and gratitude.
Just Do It Resolution: Family History – This year the HT and I are going to scan all of my folks’ picture albums, get pictures from my uncle and write down histories. We will also be making a trip back to Illinois, Missouri and Texas to visit with family and load up on more pictures and history. We will be putting a lot of miles on our scanner. For Christmas last month we gave each of our four children a box filled with their childhood photos and a flash drive of all of the family photos and family history photos – 41 years of pictures. That was phase #1. This year we move into phase #2.
I’ll post regular updates on my goals/resolutions. I’m thinking about adding a weight one as well. Have I lost my mind?
P.S. – I would love to hear how you are planning to Rock 2015. Drop me a line and we can compare progress notes. It’s so nice to have support besties~
